Catch of the Day: Cod Liver Oil!

One of the best ways to prevent illness and get vitamin D is surprisingly not what you think. What is it?


Cod liver oil.


One of the best sources of vitamin A and vitamin D, cod liver oil is great for bones, teeth, skin, and even the immune system. It's a great way to prevent measles and to treat diseases like rickets.


It's actually better to take cod liver oil in liquid form rather than capsule to ensure that you're getting enough (I know, it sounds gross, but trust me!) And it is a great way to boost the immune system.


It's great to give to children, to take daily, and is safe for pregnancy, too. I've been taking it throughout this pregnancy and can really notice a difference between this and my daughter, whom I had hyperemesis gravidarum with.


Some of the best brands include Carlson (which I personally use) and Nordic Naturals, and it's important to check reviews and who owns the company, too.
